ALMA SULJEVIĆ
Alma´s Mine trip During the last seven years, Alma Suljević has dedicated all of her work to the problem of mines and minefields. Her projects, initially based on “firld work”, literally, (entering the minefield, moving the mined corridor into the gallery...) later on became gradually more and more “usual” in form (most often video works and performances), with stronger artistic accents which do not diminish the cruelty of the entire image. The ideas relating mines are at the same time virtual (establishment of the forth entity) and fully concrete (selling the minefield soil, the act of de-mining) so that both real and virtual - are in permanent interaction. 1 Alma is organizing this mined trip to set up your mind to think about mine and mine victims. Will you mind about the mine be still your mind tomorrow? Don’t mind if your mind about the mine becomes the new mind tomorrow. 2 Questions The “conquering” of space represents my question: How much of the planet Earth and in which Measure (ironic M) is covered with zones we are not allowed to enter? To what extent are contemporary art, or the theories on contemporary art, mine fields, through which there are the paths “mind free”? Who is the author of “Maps of Mine Fields” in the “contemporary” conflict of cultures? Where is my place?
